A winter break in Bad Goisern offers not only skiing and snowboarding, but also off-piste activities at a more leisurely pace.
Cross-country skiing makes for an outstanding opportunity to explore the picture-postcard winter scenery in general and the Koppenwinkel nature sanctuary in particular. Imagine those mighty rocks, dense forests and frozen lakes covered with thick layers of snow, and myriads of snow crystals sparkling in the sunshine… Snow-shoeing is not only a century-old way of moving in deep snow, but another fantastic means of nature exploration in the Salzkammergut area, appreciated by those who wish to walk off the beaten track. Tobogganing is fun for both children and adults. In addition, the Dachstein area boasts several ski areas, including the Freesports Arena Dachstein Krippenstein which boasts Austria’s longest ski run. Enjoy sunshine and powder snow in abundance!
With a total of 30 kilometers of slopes the Dachstein area offers skiable terrain for skiers of all ages and ambitions, for skiing novices and pros alike.

The winter offers many opportunities for a relaxing stay in one of Upper Austria´s most beautiful regions. The broad and tranquil Goisern valley stretches from Hallstatt lake in the south to Bad Ischl, the Emperor´s holiday retreat and spa town, in the north. Bad Goisern is a hidden gem for visitors in winter!
We are proud to belong to the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage Region Hallstatt/Dachstein. This status was awarded thanks to 2500 years of surviving local culture and tradition, and also thanks to the outstanding natural beauty of our surroundings. One of the highlights of the winter months is the celebration of Advent in the Salzkammergut and the many events which are organised.
