Mountain & nature experience

Walking and hiking or skiing and cross-country skiing amid breathtaking, unspoiled landscapes – the Hohe Salve area stands for an unparalleled nature experience in the Lower Inn Valley in the Kitzbühel Alps. The charming villages of Hopfgarten, Itter, Kelchsau, Wörgl, Angath, Angerberg, Mariastein and Kirchbichl offer a friendly welcome and heartfelt hospitality. Outdoor enthusiasts of all ages and ambitions will find the perfect trails to suit their ambitions, from leisurely walks to challenging mountain tours. No chance of boredom for families with children: With six adventure playgrounds – including Hexenwasser in Söll and Ellmis Zauberwelt at Hartkaiser - and all-year swimming at the Wave pools and leisure center in Wörgl we keep adults and children entertained during their holidays.

Walking & hiking, cycling and mountain biking

The Hohe Salve area has a lot to offer when it comes to summer activities and sports. Choose from innumerable trails for walking and hiking, as well as a variety of cycling routes (for both mountain bikes and electric bicycles) down in the valley or high up in the mountains, at altitudes of up to 2,400 meters. Rafting and kayaking, paragliding and pony trekking also make for an inspiring nature experience for the old and young. The area was named after its most prominent landmark, Hohe Salve Mountain (1,828 m), also known as Tirol’s Rigi. It has become popular thanks to its spectacular view of the mountains.

Several uphill facilities ensure fabulous mountain adventures even for families with children and elderly people. Once up there, you are to enjoy awe-inspiring views of breathtaking mountains and mountain ranges, including Hohe Tauern, the Zillertal Alps, Wilder Kaiser, and even Grossglockner and Grossvenediger. Salvenkirche at the top of Hohe Salve is Austria’s highest (as far as altitude is concerned) pilgrimage church. The nearby Gipfelalm restaurant offers meals and refreshments, and the popular mountain breakfast for early birds.
