Holidays Kitzbühel Region

Kitzbühel: More than holidays!

Located to the north-east of Tirol, Kitzbühel, Aurach, Reith and Jochberg rank among the most popular holiday destinations throughout the Province – due to their harmonious blend of unspoiled nature, innumerable sports options, varied hotel accommodation and friendly people. Kitzbühel has gained a reputation as a top-notch winter sports resort in general, and for hosting the legendary Hahnenkamm downhill race in particular. The nearby villages of Aurach, Reith and Jochberg have a lot to offer, too: Reith, for instance, nestles at the foot of Wilder Kaiser and is the preferred destination of those who love cross-country skiing and playing golf, while Aurach comes with outstanding backcountry skiing and mountain biking. The mountains of Jochberg lend themselves to walking and hiking in tune with nature.

Summer activities in the Kitzbühel area

Planning a holiday in or around Kitzbühel? – If so, remember to bring along your hiking boots or even a mountain bike! Some 1,000 kilometers of hiking trails wind their ways across gently rolling grass hills and flower-strewn meadows, past the jagged mountains of Wilder Kaiser. Apart from the charming huts and mountain lodges the impressive Sintersbach waterfalls in Jochberg are absolute must-sees. And so is the Schwarzsee moor lake near Reith, the warmest of its kind in Tirol, just two kilometers from Kitzbühel.

Cycling is another major topic in the Kitzbühel area. With about 2,000 kilometers of routes and trails for cycling, mountain biking and road biking there is plenty of cyclable terrain for everyone. Wilder Kaiser is a climbing hot spot in the area, with famous routes such as Fleischbank, Totenkirchl and Predigtstuhl. Kitzbühel and its surrounding communities leave nothing to be desired for golf aficionados, too: In the course of a holiday in the Kitzbühel region you may play four fabulous golf courses – including the scenic Kitzbühel-Schwarzsee-Reith and Eichenheim courses.

Streif: Thrilling downhill adventure!

If you love skiing, the Kitzbühel area is the place to go for! That is certainly true of today as it was 50 years ago! Kitzbühel, the hub of winter sports, is located at the foot of Hahnenkamm (1,700 m) and Kitzbühler Horn, at the very heart of the Kitzbühel Alps. Together with Kirchberg and Pass Thurn it is part of one of Austria’s largest lift-linked ski areas. With some 170 kilometers of slopes, more than 50 uphill facilities and the famous Streif downhill course the Kitzbühel-Kirchberg-Pass Thurn ski area offers skiable terrain for people of all ages and abilities.

Some 170 kilometers of cleared trails meander through a picture postcard winter wonderland – just perfect for those who prefer winter sports at a more leisurely pace. The cross-country skiing tracks in Reith as well as the high-altitude track at Pass Thurn (reliable snow cover!) make for an unparalleled nature experience as well. Bichlalm above Aurach is not only the preferred destination of backcountry skiers, but it is also popular among families thanks to the 3.5-kilometer sledge track at Kelchalm.
