Hiking Sellrain

  • The Sellraintaler Höhenwanderweg trail is known for its spectacular views. The 15-kilometer route from Zirmbach to Oberperfuss offers the opportunity to climb the Seejoch, Weißstein and Rosskogel peaks.
  • The Sellraintaler Hüttenrunde is definitely a highlight for experienced mountaineers. It starts in Sellrain and takes several days, taking in such peaks as Zischgele or Rauher Kopf.
  • Lüsener Fernerkogel is an impressive landmark towering high above Lüsens. It offers outstanding hiking and climbing in varied terrain. Mountaineers approaching the peak via the north face will be rewarded with fantastic views.
  • St. Sigmund im Sellraintal is a prime destination for hiking aficionados and the starting point for tours up Freihut Mountain. It may take a certain level of physical fitness, though, to climb this popular viewpoint.

  • From November through April the ski mountains in Sellraintal rank among Tirol's favorite ski mountaineering destinations. The region offers something for all ability levels, ranging from easy beginners' routes to challenging peak conquests for real ski touring experts.
  • 3000 meter high Zischgeles, 2870 meter high Lampsenspitze and 3300 meter high Lisener Fernerkogel are the most popular mountains. Superb ascent routes followed by dreamlike downhill skiing on pristine slopes.
  • Additionally, scenic Lampsenspitze in Praxmar is Austria's first ski mountaineering educational trail equipped with information panels displaying safety tips and avalanche hazard details.
  • A splendid ski tour leads on top of Rosskogel peak at 2650 m, starting in St. Quirin at 1250 meters above sea level.

Motorway: Munich - Kufstein towards Innsbruck, drive past Innsbruck towards Arlberg. Exit: Kematen, continue for about 6 km (approx. 10min) to Sellrain.

Füssen - Fernpass - Imst - Motorway - exit Ötztal. From the exit its about 40km (approx. 50min.) to Sellrain.

Federal road (no toll fee): Munich - Garmisch - Seefeld - Zirl - Kematen - Sellrain. From Zirl it's about 8km (approx. 15min.) to Sellrain.

Federal road (no toll fee): Füssen - Fernpass - Imst - Ötztal - Ötz - Kühtai - Gries im Sellrain - Sellrain. From Ötz it's about 31km (approx. 45min.) to Sellrain.
