  • Among the highlights of the 5-day Kaiserkrone tour around Wilder Kaiser are the Hintersteiner See lake and the Adlerblick viewpoint. The 65-kilometer tour starts in Going.
  • Crystal-clear lake Hintersteiner See is definitely a must-see! It is also the trailhead for hikes to Stofflhütte and Walleralm, among others.
  • The Tauernblick Panoramarundweg loop trail winds its way past several breathtaking viewpoints, as well as the impressive Schleierwasserfall waterfall and the Gaudeamushütte.
  • Starting at the Hartkaiser top station, the Alpenrosen hike meanders across awe-inspiring fields of Alpine rose. Walking downhill from the Hartkaiser top station, visitors may take the Rübezahlschnitzweg route (past 22 wood-carvings) to the Rübezahlalm.

  • The majestic Wilder Kaiser massif makes a real climber's paradise boasting myriad climbing gardens and via ferrata routes - for example the Kaiserschützensteig trail or the new Klamml via ferrata.
  • A number of high Alpine climbing routes for both beginners and real pros are available as well. Leuchsroute on Scheffauer Nordwand north face is made to measure to less experienced sportsmen while advanced climbers get together on the Via Classica or the Fleischbank east wall.

Wilder Kaiser: An ‘imperial’ summer experience

Wilder Kaiser has become a splendid summer destination for active travelers and families alike. The entire area is a paradise for walking, hiking and climbing enthusiasts, offering hiking tours taking several days (e.g. Kaiserkrone trail) and Alpine climbing tours on historic routes (e.g. Fleischbank East Face or Predigtstuhl). The free Kaiserjet bus service links the villages of Going, Ellmau, Söll and Scheffau and offers easy access to the respective trailheads. Guided mountain bike tours starting in Going are organized on a weekly basis. Yet, Wilder Kaiser is not only home to innumerable panorama routes and challenging trails, but also to the Ellmau 27-hole golf course and four more golf courses in the wider Kitzbühel area. On a hot summer’s day there is nothing to beat a refreshing soak in Lake Hintersteinersee or Lake Ahornsee in Söll.
