Delightful & Active Holidays

The nature park municipality of Kaprun presents itself in a picturesque way at the foot of the Hohe Tauern mountains just below the Kitzsteinhorn glacier. The village is located on 780 meters above sea level in the Salzburger Land area and is perfectly prepared for visitors. Nearly all year around are guests from all over the world attracted by the glacier ski resort with snow guarantee. There is not only the impressive Kitzsteinhorn peak but also a medieval castle which is the second landmark of the village. The large Medieval Festival in summer takes visitors back in time.
The Zell am See-Kaprun region offers ideal conditions for holidays with the entire family, gourmets and sports fans: No matter whether you prefer skiing amid the magnificent mountain scenery or après ski fun at the various bars, culture or hiking in untouched nature.

Unlimited pleasures in snow

In the Kitzsteinhorn skiing area, the skiing season starts already in autumn. There is nothing to be longed for in the glacier ski resort as it offers easy slopes for families as well as a steep slope called “Black Mamba”, freerider and powder snow areas as well as a cross-country skiing track high up in the mountain. The mountain station is at more than 3000 meters above sea level and therefore guarantees a nature experience for all your senses: There is, for example, the National Park Gallery with information provided in the inside of the mountain plus a breath-taking panorama platform. The peak restaurant, which is the highest located restaurant in the Salzburger Land area, offers local delicacies such as the “Kitzsteinhorn Game Burger” or a sweet “Apple & Nut Bag”.
After such an exciting day out in the impressive Alpine scenery you can relax in the Tauern Spa in Kaprun and get pampered from head to toe. More than 2.000 m² water surface, an outdoor pool made of glass, a sole pool, steam baths and panorama saunas invite you to let your thoughts wander. There is a separate area for families with children perfectly adapted to their needs where they can have unlimited fun.

Holidays between glaciers and Alpine flowers

Discover the unique Alpine flora and fauna when on summer holidays in Kaprun and in the Hohe Tauern National Park – the oldest in Austria. Rangers of the national park take young and old visitors on different excursions, such as for example on geological hikes or game watching tours.
Walking through the Sigmund-Thun Gorge is an unforgettable experience and ideal for a family excursion with its rugged rocks and roaring water. The Kaprun river rushes through the 32-m-deep valley which has been formed by the glacier over the last thousands of years. The mountain railway at the Kitzsteinhorn offers impressive views of the surrounding peaks. Those who are immune to high altitudes are attracted by a ride over the 113-m-high lift tower – the highest worldwide! Another highlight is a visit to the “Electricity & Ice Adventure World” including a natural scenery. The museum is located at the Mooserboden high mountain reservoir at 2040m embedded in the majestic glacier world.
