Diverse Holidays in the Tri-Border Region

Pfunds, surrounded by mountains in the tri-border region Austria-Italy-Switzerland, is divided into two parts which are connected by a bridge made of wood. Culture and tradition can be seen in everyday life in this holiday village. The four-floor tower at the Inn Bridge is a landmark in this culturally very interesting town. Emperor Maximilian used it as fortified tower and hunting residence. Furthermore, there are approx. 40 heritage-protected objects, which characterise the image of Pfunds. Particularly interesting buildings are the Church of Our Lady in late Gothic style and the Judge’s House decorated with beautiful frescos. Altfinstermünz Fortress has been restored and invites visitors to discover this historic site (open again since 1 June 2014).

Experience Great Summer Holidays in Pfunds

Pfunds is a central starting point for excursions to Engadin, Vinschgau and the upper Inntal valley as it is nicely embedded in the mountains of the tri-border region, amid gorges, pastures and romantic high valleys. Rare Alpine flowers grow along the ways leading to unforgettable natural experiences such as the largest stone pine wood in the Eastern Alps reaching up to 2,400m above sea level. The numerous sign-posted and awarded hiking paths await you and take you for example to Radurschl Gorge, Fischeralm Pasture with a birds’ park and Hohezollern House with its unique waterfall. Further options to spend a happy summer time are fishing, going on Kneipp tours, horse-back riding and mountain biking. As the village is known for being the center for canyoning and rafting on the Inn River, Pfunds is the right place for everyone looking for the extra kick. Adrenaline junkies and climbing fans can take advantage of paraglide tandem flights and two high ropes gardens – discover the surroundings from a bird’s eye view.
