Lake Afritzer See - Nockberge/Bad Kleinkirchheim

Austria Carinthia Feld am See Brennsee Eiscurling Ice-dragon-festival - Feld am See Carinthia

Lake Afritz nestles in a scenic setting at the heart of the Nockberge mountains.

Legend has it that thousands of years ago Mirnock, the giant, threw a huge rock into a large lake, thus dividing it into 2 parts: Lake Brennsee and Lake Afritz. The reason for his rage was the beautiful daughter of a fisherman ...

Today Lake Afritz, like Lake Brennsee, is an ideal bathing lake with numerous water sports options. The crystal-clear (drinking) water boasts temperatures of up to 24 °C in the summer. Length: 1.6 km; width 340 m. The lake has an unspoiled, natural environment, which can easily be explored on foot (trail length 3.5 km). Direct access to the lake for fishermen. Electric boats only - no motor boats!

Fishing: Pike, carp, perch, tench, chub, eel, catfish, trout, and various species of whitefish including arctic char and bream.
