Climbing Routes - Porze Nordwand - Austria

Obertilliach Tirol

Porze is one of the most beautiful rock formations of the Carnic Alps. The climbing routes have so far been less famous...

Features: The northern face of Porze, up to 400 meters high and surrounded by a number of gorges, is interspersed with framestone and is part of the famous trail called "Karnischer Höhenweg", attracting the eye even from Obertilliach. It has many compact and eroded rock segments, but also many brittle ones. In the last years, Reini and Hansjörg Scherer often tried to find compact routes across the wall.
There is also a normal ascent and two via ferratas (from the east and west) to the peak. A climbing garden is located directly in the fall line of the peak, at the start of "Niggen's Tour". It has climbs of grade 5 to 9.

Select NEUTOUREN AM FELSEN from the menu and then click KLETTERGARTEN. Reinhold Scherer describes a number of routes here (in German language only).
