Starnberger See is the biggest of the five lakes in Upper Bavaria.

Hugely popular with bathers, sailors and surfers alike, Starnberger See is located in close proximity to Munich (20 km) and to the Bavarian Alps. With a total surface of 56 sqm it is the second biggest lake in all Bavaria. All five lakes in the area offer picturesque views and clean air.
If you're looking for quiet, also check out the smaller lakes in the area such as Wörthsee, Pilsensee and Wesslinger See.
Ammersee and Starnberger See, however, offer great possibilities for exciting activities such as snorkeling, diving, surfing, sailing, water ski etc.

All along the shoreline there are many beaches accessible to the public. Strandbad Starnberg even offers a water park. Due to favorable wind conditions, the lake is known as a paradise for sailors and surfers, with many sailing and yachting clubs, shipyards, boat rental shops and diving schools around the lake.

Also be sure not to miss our boat trips which take you to historically interesting sites.
