One of the oldest cities at Lake Garda. It gave the name to the lake which used to be called Benaco by the Romans.

Garda, located at the foothills of the impressive Monte Baldo, still retains its historic town center with many monuments which tell of its important past. Still today it is a thriving place on the Riviera degli Olivi. It is worth exploring the headland of Punta Santo Vigilio which offers a thrilling view of the lake.

Another attraction is the long pebble beach. To get there, take the car up to Villa Guarienti (16th century, closed to the public). Walk along the quiet reeds towards the lake until you come to the picturesque harbor, then follow Viale dei Cipressi (cypress road) until you reach the long pebble beach with its beautiful sunning lawn covered with olive trees (admission fee).
